![]() ![]() Normal empires get extremely potent specialist output, again thanks to very strong civics like Meritocracy, which Hiveminds do not get. Hiveminds have less Alloy output than other empires which is a huge detriment. Hive worlds are simply worse than Machine worlds because they don't reduce housing requirements. Hiveminds get +2 housing on their Synapse Node, their culture worker building which you can only build once per planet. In the Domination tree, Machine empires get +2 housing per maintenance depot of which you build mutlipe. For example Synapse Drones are simply worse than Coordinators - the Machine empire equivalent. ![]() Hiveminds have weaker bonuses in their traditions compared to Machine empires. Hiveminds have weaker growth than any other empire using Robots (this is not true for the start of the game, however other empires will go even and pull vastly ahead around 2300). Warrior culture was buffed, Strength of Legions stayed the same. As an example, Technocracy, one of the best civics in the game and pooled knowledge both used to grant +1 research alternatives.Īnother example: Warrior Culture and Strength of Legions used to be the same. Sadly this happened because Paradox overhauled non-gestalt empires with 2.2 but did not touch Hivemind civics at all even though they used to have the exact same civics before normal empires got overhauled. The only way to play Hiveminds and have a chance to stay competitive is to choose Devouring Swarm, all their other civics are either mediocre or just flat out bad - like the ones you chose in this setup. Hiveminds as a whole are extremely weak this patch because of the habitability changes favouring robots and they were already weaker than Machine empires in 2.2.7. It is better to get a civic for more admin cap, choose Devouring swarm and turtle hard until you finish the tech tree, after which you start spamming additional admin cap tech and you can expand endlessly with low impact on empire sprawl. Natural Neural Network and Pooled Knowledge are simply weak traits that do not add much to your empire. Quick learners are not as good as you think, because as leaders require more and more exp per level up so there is still a lot of time, where this civic does nothing for you.
